By Dec 31st, 2011 Daria had reached 252,156 fans on Google+ This interview was done in Oct 2011 and at the time, she had about 18,000 fans. This interview laid out how she got started and how Daria build this huge momentum to help her build her fan base.
Daria is a great example of some one who believes in her dream, took massive action and made it happen.
Daria Musk’s success did not come over night.
Like many people with “head turning”, “How the hell did they do that?” success stories, they always seem like an “Overnight Sensation” from the surface.
Once you start digging deeper, you will find interesting turning points, their work ethnics, their mindsets and you will begin to understand why Daria is winning the hearts of her fans.
Below are the take aways and how you could apply it to your product launch.

If You Don’t Adopt To New Technology, Somebody Else Will
In today’s noisy world of instant connection through technology, social media, advertisements, to stand out from the crowd ain’t easy.
From studying and researching how other successful people are standing out in their industry today, it boils down to three fundamental questions:
1. What unique and valuable content am I producing for my audience?
2. How am I delivering my content, in an interesting and unique way that is different than anyone else in the market?
3. How can I engage, connect, and interact with my audience and build an authentic, lasting relationship with them?
By adopting to new technology and improving it through her concerts using Google+ hangouts, Daria is able to do all three of the above, live, and at the same time.
How?
1. She writes her own music (She even wrote one during her 1st concert call “Plus 1 Me”)
2. Deliver it through Google+ hangout marathon concerts
3. She engage and interact with her fans in between her songs
Delivering content with articles, Podcasts, MP3s and videos still has its place but Google+ Hangouts combining with live streaming is another type of beast.
This is not only for singer and performers. People from different industries are already starting to use Google+ Hangouts to build their community.
For example, +Trey Ratcliff from stuckincustoms.com who is a professional photographer is hosting these hangouts to exchange ideas, show what they are working on, share their websites and just have a whole lot of fun together with other photographers. As of this post, he had done 9 Google+ Hangouts already.
Takeaways and Actions You Can Take
- If you don’t have a Google+ account, sign up now and check out Google+ Hangouts (You can circle me here)
- How can you integrate and utilize Google+ Hangouts with what you offer so you can interact, connect, and build a relationship with your customers in a deeper level?
For example, I will be hosting Google+ Hangouts to share experience, have fun, and learn together for people who are interested in creating and launching a product. Some interviews will also be open for our community to join so you can ask question about product launch directly, face to face, live.
Ain’t that awesome =)?
Hard Work Pays Off
“The religion of the household is Practice, cause religion really means what you Practice…” (Tweetable here)
Daria had been practicing religiously since she was 9 years old and performing since 15 or 16. She would perform anywhere no matter how big or small the audience is, even in the woods! (I am not kidding, the proof is in the interview =)
Her hard work of practicing music, performing and writing songs really shines through her hangouts concerts.
Once Daria got some momentum from her first concert, she did not slow down but she SLAMMED on the gas paddle like there is no tomorrow.
You will see just by looking in the length of her three marathon concerts that she held so far.
Hangouts Concert 1: 6.5 hours
Hangouts Concert 2: 7.5 hours
Hangouts Concert 3: 8 hours
Another reason why she was able to grow her fan base consistently is because, she consistently write interesting content and interact with her fans on Google+.
This takes time and hard work.
In return, she has an engaging and responsive fan base. Do you think her fans will support her once she finish her album? You bet.
Takeaways
- Work smart and work hard, there is no free lunch. REALLY!
Genuine, Joyful, Persistent Way of Being
“Connect from a genuine, human place and share genuinely from the heart…”
(Tweetable here)
“Your dreams are possible, sometimes you just have to believe longer than anyone else…”
(Tweetable here)
“The story was really, learning how to come out through the darkness…”
(Tweetable here)
Even adopting to the latest technology nor just working very hard will only take us so far.
Without coming from a honest, genuine, human place,
Without believing her dreams are possible,
Without coming through the darkness when the road gets tough,
Daria will not have her result and this amazing new turning point of her career.
Daria also spoke about creating “Fierce Joy” and “Laughing In the Face of the Lion” (new video on that coming soon), phases she use to pump herself up through tough times. Which we all need.
What is your version of “Fierce Joy” that works for you when the road gets tough and what did you get out of this interview?
